One Day Nikko Bay Caves Explore Tour
Today I paddled a full day course for the first time in a long time.
It was a very nice start to the day. The wind was calm and we paddled out on lake-like water.
A cove where we usually take a short break. But today’s guests were powerful, so they were not tired and headed to the next spot without a break.
The bay of Nikko Bay is deep away from the island, but there are beautiful shoals in places along the island. This is a great spot for shallow water and the bottom is sandy, so the water color is clear.
We also enjoyed snorkeling in its beautiful shallows. Shrimp fish family dance, small fish hiding in the mangrove roots, a scene you don’t see in the open sea.
We were lucky that it was still sunny when we visited Emerald Cave. The weather changed abruptly after that.
Palau is prone to sudden squalls around high tide these days. As expected, strong rain started to fall today. Since the wind also becomes stronger at the beginning of the rain, we were forced to wait under a tree at Rock Island for a while.
As the rain eased off a bit, we went ashore to the beach for lunch; lunch for the full-day tour is available for selection at a local food store after pickup at the hotel. Today’s guests said they would go again after the tour. I am glad they liked it.
After lunch, spend the rest of the day relaxing. The weather was getting better, so it was time to take pictures, and I also built a sand turtle.
We visited several caves in the afternoon. Here is Cross Cave, where the sun’s rays reflect on the water like a cross. Today the cross was a bit fuzzy.
Land on an island and explore Tarzan Cave. The limestone the guests found was the color of sweet caramel sauce on sweets. It kind of made me want to eat something sweet.

One last snorkel time before returning to the port. Relaxing after a long day of paddling, we finish today’s tour.
